The Tungsten Electrode is one of the most important variables involved in TIG welding. A properly prepared Tungsten Electrode improves arc starting, arc stability and consequently weld quality.

Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT® have been manufacturing Tungsten Electrode Grinders since the 1980's - this was our state-of-the-art grinder in the 80's (below).

Accurate electrode grinding will lead to cost savings due to the increased life of properly ground tungsten electrodes and eliminating the need to purchase of preround electrodes.

Ground and polished tungsten electrodes produce identical, repeatable results for automated welding every time. With Manual welding, the shape of the tungsten electrode is just as important - a correctly shaped tip allows the arc to be precisely positioned with none of the preferential arcing experienced when using poorly shaped manually ground tips. For in-field grinding check out the VAG-4 120VAC and battery powered portable grinders, offering the same repeatability, and ease of use.
